The San Antonio Spurs have officially locked in the centerpiece of their future.
Victor Wembanyama has signed a five-year, $252 million maximum rookie-scale contract extension, according to ESPN. The agreement includes a player option for the fifth and final season. The Spurs confirmed that Wembanyama signed a multiyear extension but did not publicly disclose the financial terms.
The new contract will begin during the 2027-28 NBA season after Wembanyama completes the final year of his rookie deal. His salary is expected to begin at approximately $43.5 million, with a projected $57.5 million player option for the 2031-32 season. It will become the richest contract in Spurs franchise history.
